Police Complaint Against RCA President Lalit Modi 21 Jan 2009, 0442 hrs IST, Dinesh Sharma JAIPUR: Former cricketer and General secretary of the Registan Cricket Club, Anil Singh Shekhawat has filed a complaint against president of the Rajasthan Cricket association Lalit Modi with the Jyoti Nagar police station alleging misappropriation of funds. In his complaint, he alleged that Modi misused Rs 22 lakh out of a total ammount of Rs seven crore which was granted to the Rajasthn Cricket Academy by BCCI for the year 2007-08. The police have yet not lodged an FIR, but filed a complaint in the matter. "As we will have to contact officials of BCCI for confirmation about his complaint and other enquiries about the funds released by the BCCI, we are yet to file an FIR in the matter," said in-charge of the Jyoti Nagar police station. The BCCI has deducted an amount of around 22 lakhs from the TV rights subsidy which was sent to RCA. I have alleged that Lalit Modi who is also the Vice president of BCCI has probably used his influence and got his personal expenses deducted from the subsidy. The police asked me for the proof but I have requested for an enquiry," alleged Shekhawat. He alleged in the complaint that Modi shelled out Rs 22 lakh during one of his visits to West Indies in 2007. On the other hand Lalit Modi has termed this exercise as a "mischief" and did not heed much to it.
