Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed the contempt petition filed against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Union Transport Minister T R Baalu in connection with the October, 2007 state bandh. A bench of Justices B N Agarwal and G S Singhvi dismissed the petition on the ground that the AIADMK, which had filed the contempt petition, failed to establish the allegation. The AIADMK had filed a petition alleging that the Tamil Nadu government organised the bandh on the Sethusamudram project row despite the apex court restraining it from doing so. The charge against Baalu was that he made contemptuous allegations against judges of the Supreme Court and questioned their integrity
