Lawyers are banned from any advetisements as per the Act. Whereas any other proffession there is no such restriction been imposed. Which itself clearly goses to show that the profession is a noble one and the one for the welfare of the society. Hence No service Tax shall be levied. The Junior Lawyers would be put to painful entry to the proffession.

Lawyers ar service by far service professionals, rendering professional consultancy services for the payment of a prescribed fee. If Service Tax is imposed on CA, CS, Tution Classes, etc., I see no reason in excluding Lawyers from the ambit of Service Tax.

As a lawyer provides service to its clients as a Chartered Accountant, therefore service tax must be imposed on them as on CAs. Though its a lawyer club so many of its members refusing it. Thanks.

it is very difficult to run profession now a days. people are asking for seven rupees against their one rupee. imposing service tax and professional tax on advocates is to snatch away their bread from their hands and mouth. government should reconsider and removed it totally.

The decision of government shall be made by keeping in view the benefit of masses.lawyers except few ones assist in providing remedy to social problems (though they may be sometimes personal in nature).but taxing the services of social nature will harm the masses and it is highly probable that it would lay a bad impact on the poor people who arrange the fees and charges of court by sacrificing there needs sometimes basic ones.

some times advocates will have to conduct the cases of the poor clients freely, this profession is noble profession, it is for public service, so service tax cannot be levied on the advocates.

Taxing a particular service does not mean degrade those services. Taxing is required to seek contribution from a particular class, who is being considered overpowering the less-privileged. In the field of advocacy, there prevails heavy contrast in income-generation, where some of the higher ups are earning more and many are starving for income. The advocacy is not a field of charity or social activity, but now reached upto a stand of big business house in some cases. Hence, there should not have been any hesitation or reluctance in opening the taxing regime for advocates also.

prior to imposing such kind of taxes, let minimum fee criteria be fixed. A lawyer may not charge fee but professionals like Doctor wont even touch the patient without charging consultation fee.

Lawyers are the privileged class of the society who serve the society by helping the poor community. Moreover Lawyers are the most least paid professionals that too in very large installments.

imposing service tax on layers doesn't make sense as a layer hardly gives bill to his clients.
