Death
Al Capone died on January 25, 1947, at the age of 48. The official cause of his death was cardiac arrest resulting from a stroke.
In the years leading up to his death, Capone’s health had significantly deteriorated due to the effects of syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection that he had contracted earlier in his life.
Wife and Children
Capone was married to Mae Josephine Coughlin, commonly known as Mae Capone. They got married on December 30, 1918, and remained married until Al Capone’s death in 1947.
They had one child together, a son named Albert Francis “Sonny” Capone. Sonny was born on December 4, 1918, just a few weeks before Al and Mae’s wedding. He was their only child.
