My advice is for damage control. there are two conditions
1. Persons does not attend the court
2. Person gives adjournment application showing compelling reasons and in faithful manners.
Second conditon controls the damage of first condition
I agree that Court dates are of highest priority but somes times compelling reasons overtakes the highest priority.
Even in SC adjournment application can be given showing sufficient grounds.
