The Calcutta High Court today began hearing a suit challenging its earlier order staying screening of Bengali film ‘Paran Jai Jalia Re’ after a Mumbai based producer complained of copyright violation.
A two-man bench including Pinaki Chandra Ghosh opened the hearing and fixed the date for tomorrow.
Mumbai based director-producer Vipul Shah had told the court that the Bengali film ‘Paran Jai Jalia Re’ was made on the story of ‘Namaste London’, which was produced in Mumbai some time back.
Justice Nadira Patheria yesterday ordered Venkatesh Films, the producer of the Bengali film, to put on hold the screening of the film.
Venkatesh Film immediately moved an appeal before the court challenging the order.
