Forced over time in corporate companies

Hello,

I am facing an issue with my employer where we are made preasurized to work for extra hours (over and above the 9 hours including 1 hour break).

Would request your advise if we can reject to this request of the employer? Will doing so result in any kind of problem to me/career in future? Can the employer fire me for rejected to work over time?

PS: We do not even have over time payment, we just have to work over time for free when there is more work.

Thanks

Anusha

Give & take attitude to be followed as far as office work is concerned. But As per the Factories Act 1948, every adult (a person who has completed 18 years of age) cannot work for more than 48 hours in a week and not more than 9 hours in a day. According to Section 51 of the Act, the spread over should not exceed 10-1/2 hours.
