Need advice, dispute over common wall

hi all ,I have purchased empty plot in 2003 and started building a house. In my adjecent plot there was already bunglow whose walls are in line with my plot..As my plot area was small while building my engineer built my house with my wall touching his wall..initially this neighbour objected saying we should not use his wall..as this will hamper look of his bunglow.but as we had small plot we built sepearte pillar for our slab, and only my wall is touching his wall. And in the front portion we left open space where small lane is formed due to his wall and our wall we are not using this lane otherthan to park a bike and this comes under my plot. Now after 5-6 years he is saying that we are taking support of his wall so we must pay compensation to him.and we must built a wall inside the open lane as we are again using his wall to the lane...Usually i stay outside only my old parents are staying there..can i take any legal action against him so that he will not bother my parents or is he right in his claims ?please give me how should i approach this legally
