Rti with welfaresociety

as a member of the RWWWS, Kansal, I applied for a plot and paid the initial amount of Rs. 1. 0 Lac, to the Society. I was later on informed by the President of the society that the Land is being acquired by the Pb. Govt and I need to sign certain papers for filing of Civil Writ Petition (CWP) in Pb. & Haryana High Court. After this I tried on several occassions to seek further information/ststus from the President of the Society but there was no reply. Rather, I had to file a police complaint as being an NRI it was not possible for me to follow the society time and again. The complaint was maanged by the President anyhow in conivence with the Police officials. Finally, I had to file a Criminal Case in the Court, were the summons have been served on the three (3) officials of the Society. I even tried to have details of the Society records by filing an application under RTI Act. 2005, but the president is neither replying nor acknowledging my RTI application. Are the welfare societies covered by the RTI Act. 2005, Please advise.
