498a Settlement

Dear All,

My lawyer says that girls family is ready to compromise provided we give Rs. 40,000 in cash and return her jewellery and some copper utensils.

Lawyer says that 498 case has to be run and then has to be dismissed after 5 hearings. I have already spent 50,000 so far. I know at every hearing my lawyer will ask for more money. I cannot afford it.

Please advice how to deal with him. How to go for settlement in 498a case.

regards

You can contact the nearest helpline of SIF(https://www.saveindianfamily.org/contact-us/activists.html) and attend weekly meetings, which will help you solve your issues. Please read the following blog post to know about what you can do in your situation: https://at498a.blogspot.com/2008/10/first-contact-advice.html
