Can my lawyer / attorney receive summon issued by court ?

Dear Sir,

I had gone to a funral of my relative who have done suicide. At the time of funeral there was some THOD-FOD, and damage of cars by both parties. Then police have filed case against both parties. As a close relative, police have charged me for car damage along with others. Now, police have filed chargesheet to court and court have asked me to present in court / Summoned. Since, I am working abroad, I am unable to present there immediately.

Can my lawyer or my lawful attorney receive SUMMON there on my behalf? Pl reply.

Note: Case is filed by Police on both parties. One group have damahed others home and Other group have damaged cars.  Pl reply.

regards sandeep

lawyer can file exemption application on your behalf but you have to come to court once  atleast .if you fail to do so arrest warrant can be issued against you.  summon cannot be recieved by your attorney it can be by your family member that also in your absence.

No you will have to appear in the Court personally.

Though you can engage a Lawyer and he can file application seeking exemption for your personal appearance on soem dates but by and large you ahve to appear to Face the trial once the Polics has filed teh Chargesheet

There is no escape from this
