live in a small housing society consisting of 16 appartments(1block) & 16 individual homes. There are common water tanks at top of the appartments which supply water to both the appartments & individual homes. Besides getting water from the appartment tank, each Individual home has also installed a small water tank (500li to 1000li) which gets water from the tanks at top of the appartments. As the no. of occupants of apartment/individual homes increased, the water in apartment tank is not sufficient to meet the requirement of all the residents. Also, the power situation in Tamil Nadu is not good, residents may be prone to power supply cuts ranging from 0.5-8hrs. The Overhead tanks gets empty within 2 hrs (during morning hrs) of power failure. There is an urgent need to increase the water capacity of the tanks which has been approved & work is in progress. But some residents are pointing out that it is not right to have water tanks on top of the individual homes as these tanks get replenished immediately a individual home resident uses water, resulting in overhead tanks getting empty quickly & leaving apartment residents without water. Being a Committee member, I want to take a call on this matter. The Society Committee Members are mostly from Individual home & hence in this issue, the decision is going to be biased. Individual home Residents are not ready to remove their personal water tanks at top of their individual homes. The Individual home residents are not agreeing for a removal of water tanks at any cost. Is there any civil law or rule which I can use to convince them during the society meet. Please help urgently.
