Dear Sirs,
Being new to the forum and this being my first post, I offer my regards to all the experts and others on this forum.
As for my question, I am a monk and I got a passport recently and applied for a visa. During the scrutiny of the documents submitted it was noticed that in the father's name column (the last page of the passport) I had my Guru's name. This discrepancy was pointed out by the embassy and they asked for legal authority to back my claim that for a monk Guru is everything. They agreed that tradition may sanction this view but law doesn't.
I would like to be enlightened as to whether it is legally admissible to have Guru's name in place of father's name.
Secondly, if it is not in order to have Guru's name on the passport, what is the course of action recommended for me.
Regards,
Prasantananda
