The Public Premises ( Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants ) Act , 1971 deals with unauthorized occupation of public premises. The Act is quite broad in perspective. However there are many instances where there is no " occupation" in its commonly known meaning ; for example : (i)an advertising agency has put up ( without any permission, ) a commercial graffiti / poster on a boundary wall belonging to a Central University, or ( ii) an advertiser has hung ( without any permission, ) a large festoon / banner on a space on a gov't owned premises . Can the PP Act , 1971 be used in such cases ?
