DHANANJAY KUMAR GUPTA (practice in U.P.Vat Entry Tax Central Sales Tax & Income Tax)     25 August 2015

Is it mandatory for wife to change surname post marriage

Is it mandatory to change surname by a wife post marriage as per the surname of her husband when both are Hindus and also married as per hindu customs in accordance of law? What is the legal status when the girl is Varshney and married  to Gupta and she does not convert her surname as Gupta. Please give legal status opinion. Is it viable under the eyes of law?

NO, It's not mandatory to change the maiden name however if the applicant want then she can go for that by furnishing Name Change after Marriage Affidavit.
