Event: Lecture on TRIAL JURISPRUDENCE IN INDIA

1. Mr. Bharat Chugh: Administration of Criminal Justice (Advocate; Partner designate, L&L Partners; Former Judge).
2. Prof. (Dr.) G.S. Bajpai: Criminal Justice & Victimology (Registrar, NLUD; Chairperson, Centre for Criminology & Victimology; President, Indian Society of Victimology).
The objective and significance:
The lecture will focus on the topic ‘Trial Jurisprudence In India’ which will include the discussion on The Indian Penal Code, The Criminal Procedure Code and The Indian Evidence Act.
Sub-topics would include procedure and importance of investigation by police and inquiry by magistrate, role of forensic examination and forensic expert, cross and chief examination, framing of charges, Post-trial proceedings, role of Jail Superintendent, discussion on the various procedures involved in case of Juvenile delinquency, domestic violence cases, female offenders, etc and procedures under the Criminal Procedure Code.
The objective of the event is to help the students to learn about the concepts of Criminal Procedure Code with the blend of both theoretical and practical approach and understand the law with the help of some of the most controversial and landmarks judgments.
Also, towards the end of the lecture, an interactive session will also be organized.
The outcome of the lecture:
The lecture will help the students to break out of their comfort zone and think differently. It will help to sharpen their skills and explore new ways of learning and working. It will provide an opportunity to meet the experts and interact with them face to face.
