sir,can I go directly to the police station and take a police clearance stating that no criminal case is pending in that p.s. against me.

The local police station does not have the power to grant a character certificate under CrPC on your application.

please refer this.

you ll have to visit your regional passport office for the same.

the procedure is quite simple. apply online. get an ARN (application reference number) and visit the passport office.(walk -in)
