Under Hindu law, a wife gets an equal share of the assets of the deceased husband divided between other Class I heirs, the children and mother. This applies only if the man dies intestate. If there are no children and other claimants, the wife is entitled to the total property

What is the personal law applicable? So also, what is the context for this query?

If a Hindu, mother of the deceased is entitled for an equal share with the wife.

In accordance with Hindu law, the wife is entitled to an equal share of the estate that is distributed to the mother, children, and other Class I heirs. This only applies if the male passes away intestate. The wife is entitled to the entire estate if there are no children or other claimants.
