Submitted an application to PIO , Commandant AOC centre Secunderabad Cantonment seeking info as follows:
Approving authority to allow use of unit boundary walls facing the public road as bill boards/sign postings to advertise commercial products?
Amount of money being paid by the manufacturers of the product for display on the govt walls facing the general public.
In which head that revenue is being taken in and accounted for and by whom. When is terms of contact finishing?
I have just received the reply from PIO AOC centre as follows:-
That all roads within the complex of AOC Centre are Cantonment road and not a private road and hence your contention that display of boards in the public road is incorrect.
That the photographs depicted are training posters to motivate the soldiers and depict the activities of the centre.
That there are no advertisements specific to any vendor displayed. These are showcasing the items avaiable in the CSD Canteens for info of the defence personnel/ex servicemen who are dependent on the Centre CSD Canteen as such no remuneration of any kind is obtained. As this is pertaining to Cantonment land solely to be used for defense personnel the showcasing of training posters is justified. Besides these boards are also for the beautification of the cantonment area.
