1 month of jail for every default, means at the end of 1 month you have to pay the whole amount including arrears else again 1 month jail and so on...

If they put husband in jail, how will he earn and pay maintenance and arrears? If, in a case where wife pays maintenance to unemployed husband and wife defaults maintenance payment, will wife also be put in jail for one month?

Very valid question.  You may ask the same to the sitting judge in the Family Court and try obtaining answer for your question.

Wife may also be imprisoned for failure of nonpayment of maintenance toward husband, provided you have provided to court her income details like salary slip, bank statement etc, if you dont have such, by filing appropriate application to court asking it to get details from such bank/her employer by call of records, and when she is hereby ordered to pay alimony to you on such application by you to the court, she will also be jailed in the same way you will be jailed for non-payment of alimony/maintenance.
