Purchase of intellectual property

Dear Members,

I am planning to purchase an intellectual property right from an institution, which is a university. Now the university is charging me an amount for purchasing the asset and is also claiming a royalty on it.

If it is selling an asset, can it still claim a  royalty?

Is it wise to invest in this scheme?

Please advise.

Regards,

Sourav

Royalty can be claimed.

As for the wisdom of it, you are the best judge.

It is better to do the intellectual property audit by an expert before purchase and know the value of the product in open market and its use in the society. then only this investment will be good.
