Hi,

Contempt of court is a legal violation committed by an individual who disobeys a judge or otherwise disrupts the legal process in the courtroom. A contempt of court can be punished with simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees, or with both. You have 30 days to apply for objection to the charges and fight your case with the appropriate defenses.

It can be civil or criminal, direct or indirect.

It is a criminal offense and can cause more serioud problems for you if you ignore the court's order.

I hope this answers your question.

Have a good day!
