single ownership to joint ownership

I am married and I have a land in my own name. I want to make it a joint property alongwith my wife's name. How can I change the sole ownership to joint ownership without incurring much cost?

Write a Settlement Deed in favour of your wife giving her undivided half share in the land. The document is to be registered. In Tamil Nadu it does not cost much, please check with your local lawyer about the cost there. With the registered document, you can obtain a change [mutation] of revenue records in the joint names of yourself and your wife.
