What to do on getting cheque cancelled

I have got a cheque from a person against my due on him.

When i presented to my bank, I got to know that the cheque has been cancelled.

Now, legally it can be treated as "bouncing/dishounor of cheque". What legal possibilities i have in this matter?

Dear Pramod Kumar,

The cheque might have been cancelled (though  I have my doubt as it is not clear from your post that this has been confirmed in writing by the Bank) but the liability remains.

Put the other person on notice and seek discharge of his liability.

Best Regards
