Why should food get charged?

Why should food get charged?

Has nature not provided it to man for free?

No not free.

one has to put labour for accuring it, either by hunting or by purchase.

one more thing that nature not provide food for any animal.

it is the animals who hunt or collect foods from nature. it is direct for animals, but in case of human being the food collection system is diffrent. they collect it from market. in market they exchange labour and collect food. money is the medium to exchange. we put labour in one market and get money for it. in another market, we give money for food and other comodities, and collect it.

THEREFORE THE BASIC THING IS STILL SAME, - WE PUT LABOUR FOR FOOD AND COMODITIES.

I agree with Roshni's post

Do we pay anyone to also breathe oxygen?

So why should we pay for food?

Should it not be a fundamental right of each person to get food for free? Was it not God's plan to provide food, air and water for free to all living beings?

If we had followed his plan, there would be no deaths due to hunger.

Meenal ji Roshni ji's post has been answered very well by Arup ji and further explained by other members. Unless we understand the basics we shall unnecessarily keep arguing over nothing. Money is the value of labour. Lot of labour and money goes into growing food. Hence we have to pay for food.

Nobody is compelling us to buy food from society. If we want we can go to jungles and start living like tribals in jungles of India and Africa. They do labour to collect wild fruits and hunt animals and birds for food. They do not pay any money to anyone for food. Instead walk for around 20 to 40 kilometers daily in search of food in jungles. On somedays they get food, on some days they do not get food.

Do we pay anyone to also breathe oxygen?

No because nobody is investing any labour or money to produce oxygen. What if I ask cows and goats do not pay anyone to eat grass in fields?

So why should we pay for food?

Because lot of labour and money has gone into producing food. We should compensate them for their labour and money they invested for producing food.

Should it not be a fundamental right of each person to get food for free?

Should it not be a fundamental right of each person to do no work and get everything free from society?

Was it not God's plan to provide food, air and water for free to all living beings?

God's plan was to have everyone to work very hard to live, survive, search and hunt for food. Observe how animals survive in jungles. Human society is our creation, not creation of God. If we have to live in human society we have to live by give and take. Money is the common medium to measure the value of work done in society.

If we had followed his plan, there would be no deaths due to hunger.

This is just your imagination. What are famines, draughts, epidemics, floods in nature? Nature did not want population explosion and industrialisation. Earlier women used to give birth to 10-20 children in their lifetime. Out them most of them used to die within one year or so. Hardly 5-6 children used to survive. Out of these  5-6 children rarely anyone used to reach the age of 25 30. So populations remained stable. Now we have controlled mortality rates, increased life expentancies. But at the same time we have not controlled birth rate. So we have all kinds of problems due to over population. Every good work done gets overtaken by ever increasing population. We have more population density per square kilometer even more than that of China. Study any animal population. What does ever increasing population does? Creates life difficult, creates scarecity of resources and fights for survival among themselves for grabbing common resources. This is what is happening.

" Do we pay anyone to also breathe oxygen?"

----   SOMETIMES WE PAY.

For medical purpose, oxygen extracts from air mechanically, we have to purchase these as oxygen cylinders; similarly rock climbers and people works under the sea use oxygen cylinders; they collect it on payment. oxygen chambers are also there - available on payment.

Where the question is - breathing oxygen; we take it directly from the nature by putting efforts ( which is equal to pay labour). Though it is free in the sense that we need not exchange labour;  but we directly put labour to take it from nature.

" Should it not be a fundamental right of each person to get food for free?"

So far it is not a fundamental right.

YES IT SHOULD BE.

BUT IT IS POSSIBLE ONLY WHEN ALL THE MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY, -  WORKS FREE FOR THE SOCIETY.

OTHERWISE IT WILL SIMPLY BE ANOTHER TYPE OF EXPLOITATION.

SOME OF OUR STATES PROVIDES FREE RICE OR ELECTRICITY TO THE POOR PEOPLE, IT SEEMS THAT IT IS APPERANTLY GOOD BUT BASICALLY IT IS ONE TYPE OF EXPLOITATION.

SOMEWHERE, SOMEONE PAYING LABOUR FOR IT, - AND SOME OTHER PERSON ENJOY THE BENIFIT OF THAT LABOUR, WITHOUT PAYING ANY LABOUR AGAINST THE FREE RICE OR ELECTRICITY.

WHERE SOMEONE PAY LABOUR AND SOMEOTHER PERSON WILL ENJOY  IT'S FRUIT.

Actually it is a communistic approach to the society. I believe that - society moving slowly towards communism, whether we like or dislike is seperate thing,  but  the movement of the society   towards communism is a 'definite truth'. aN ABSOLUTE TRUTH ALSO.it is scientific also.

" Was it not God's plan to provide food, air and water for free to all living beings? "

There is no god, nothing like a god, it is imagination only. therefore it is a veague imagination that " God's plan to provide food, air and water for free"

HAVE YOU EVER SEEN OR EXPERIENCE THAT - A RAT COMES BEFORE THE CAT FOR THE PURPOSE OF EATING BY THE CAT?

HERE IS A SANSKRIT SHLOKE THAT - " NAHI SUPTASYA SINGHSYA PRABISHANTI MUKHE MRIGAA."  ( NEVER A DEER REACH TO THE MOUTH  OF A SLEEPING LION).

therefore we collect food from nature by our efforts and labour. it is the ultimate truth.

there shud be public distribution systems, wherein each family gets FREE RAW food(like raw vegetables, rice, dals, etc),in quantities that depend upon family size.for example,if only a couple wants to get food, cant demand 20 kgs. of rice just for one month.

unfortunately, those who have the money power buy too much of everything and waste it on lavish parties, feasts etc, also causing wastage of food.while the poor are left starving.so why shud naturally available things be charged?

money shud only be paid for luxury items like jewellery, cars, mobiles etc.

as far as labour is concerned which grows food,u have to understand that a person works a a farmer to earn money, only to be able to eat.

so if food is free, his labour is automatically paid.

and wots the harm in working for society?

100s of people work as social workers, without expecting anything in return.

Arup (UNEMPLOYED)     03 April 2011

"If we had followed his plan, there would be no deaths due to hunger."

If we follow this plan, first of all, a question has to answer. we require food grains for distribution.

who will put labour to produce these food grains?

ok, one will eating food grains, but who will produce it?

we can not ignore these questions. we must have to keep a logical solutions of it.

Arup (UNEMPLOYED)     03 April 2011

democratic indian ji,

now i have gone through your last posting. very perfect explanation. appreaciating your capacity to explain.

Arup (UNEMPLOYED)     03 April 2011

" there shud be public distribution systems, wherein each family gets FREE RAW food(like raw vegetables, rice, dals, etc)"

---   yes you are right. but the basic question still unanswered. which is -

who will put labour to produce these food grains?

ok, one will eating food grains, but who will produce it?
