I got my residential house re-constructed about 2 years ago.
Today I got a letter from upbocw ( Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare board) that I need to pay Rs. 15,000 as cess for the construction work carried out at my house by me under Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Cess Act, 1996.
The letter specifies the estimated cost of construction to be Rs. 15 Lakh. The letter also specifies the area of my house to be 130 square meter while it is actually 83 square meter.Is it fair from the side of upbocw?
Please suggest what should in this regard as I am asked to submit the cess or objection by 16th of this month or face penalty.
