ask for ordinary suit procedure

My wife has filed a maintenance case against me. Last hearing just told me that it is a summary proceeding. My defence is very strong and I have raised triable issues. I want to request judge to consider it as an ordinary suite procedure instead of summary procedure. How do I do that? Just simple application with affidavit is sufficient or do I need to approach high court?
