Can anybody explain me this plz

Can anybody explain me this.it is regarding a case against me. PW.1 present. Costs imposed paid. Memo filed. Defendant counsel filed petition U/S 148 of CPC seeking further time for cross examined of PW.1 as time extended till 20-10-2016 with a specific direction to defendant to appear along with counsel for cross examination Do I need to appear in court?

Yes. In criminal case you are always required to appear before the court. For defendant, court imposed costs for not coming to court.
