Can divroce applied person apply for passport?

Hi,

I have recently applied for divorce and at the same time applied for passport. Will passport police verification check for family court cases too? And is there chance of rejection because the applicant has filed a divorce case?

no,police verification will not enquired about such things or in family court about the divorce petition ,but its mandatory to take on oath a affadavit while appling for passport that there is no criminal or any trial is going on any courts of india against you .

Hi Anish,

This is in continuation with Veena's query. I am in the same situation. I want to apply for a passport, however, I have filed for a mutual consent divorce before 4 months which is still going on in the court. Legally I am married, but since the divorce is supposed to be granted in next 2 months, I do not want to mention anything about my marital status in the passport application form and want the passport in my maiden name. Also, I stay at my parents home since 2 years. Is it ok if I apply as a single and do not mention any details about my husband in the application form at all? Will this create any problem in police verification? Is there any way that they can find out I am married?
