Our society from Chembur, (Mumbai- Maharashtra) had gone for redevelopment and is about to take over as developer has finished almost all work and on the verge to handover it to society within few months. Now, few senior citizens have succeeded convincing the Managing Committee that they should charge ₹25000 from everyone who has bought the flat from developer. Many of the members are lured to this stand as it is going to benefit Society in terms of additional funds. Is this way to collect ₹25k from such incoming member is legal? What would be the implications if such members go to court as Society is denying membership on grounds of non payment of so called transfer charges?
