You can take cenvat credit on electric items used in manufacturing plant.

As per Rule 4(2) of Cenvat Credit Rules 2004 u can take 50% credit in same year of duty and remaining in next year. But as per rule 4(4) u cannot take depreciation on duty part under income tax. Please consider this point also.
