Change of religion option to get divorce hindu marriage

I would like to get divorced but my wife and her family is against and even they may file false 498a or DV charges against me.As per the Hindu Marriage one can seek for divorce on the basis of change in religion. In this case if i change my religion to Christianity will i be able to file for a divorce or its only possible for my wife to file for divorce ?

Is changing of religion treated as cruelty and is it possible to frame false case of DV against me ?

Hi Mukund, Changing of religion will not benefit a Hindu as your first marriage is as per Hindu rituals.

And If you want to convert why to convert to Christianity(Any way your choice) better to convert to Islam where we have more choice of wives.

It is not possible.

If you change your religion, it is not cruelty to your wife but its a ground for obtaining divorce available to the OTHER PARTY. However, yourself changing religion is not a ground for divorce for you.

By OTHER PARTY I meant the party who has remained hindu i.e not changed religion.
