Consumer Protection Act

Taking off the powers vested with the Consumer Courts to hear cases related to Telecom area by the Apex court had prompted many Government Departments to think of opposing any attempts of consumers taking cases against them to consumer forum as well. Already the lawyers have started feeling their need in consumer forums are going to come down. But the load on government appointed arbitrators are going to increase.

Mr.Thyagarajan,

The Apex Court has not passed a judgement whereby banning all Consumer Disputes qua the Telecom Company's disutes with their customers.   I humbly beg to differ on this issue.  Yes otherwise on other count the load shall be more on Arbitration proceedings but there is no dearth of counsel who practice on both consumer and Arbitration matters - on the contrary on the positive note it is a blessing for our Advocate bretherens.

Thanks and best regards

Daksh
