Is there any official / unofficial / structured database of lawyers and their track record?
Cases won, cases lost, number of cases in hand (WIP), ageing analysis of cases being handled, client comments on lawyer performance, etc....

To test a lawyer you should become a lawyer only then you will be able to. Statistical analysis is no good for testing a good lawyer.

Whether any such database is available for any other profession?

Any person who wishes to achieve some thing in life should have a lawyer, chartered accountant and a doctor as a personal friend - who will not look at you as a potential client.

Statistics / Track record alone cannot justify the credibility of an individual / profession,
but it will give you a fair idea of what you can expect, and it depends on the lawyer to convince his clients that he/she is the best, if he/she can stand by you unconditionally, incase of any future fallout.
Statistical analysis / track records are already there for Individual's Credit Rating (www.onicra.com), its only matter of time that each person's professional track record is made available.
Statistical analysis / track records, adds credibility to the professions on the whole.
