How to find out case number

Hi members,

My estranged wife has filled divorce petition and she is purposefully sending the notice to the wrong address. Her idea is to get exparte divorce. Eventhough i am ready to contest the case and give her divorce or give divorce on mutual consent she is not willing to share the case number to my lawyer. But she is telling my lawyer that she will take exparte divorce. I would like to take divorce on merit. So please advice me how can i find out the case number. I already tried in ecourt and could not get the details. Please suggest.

If she has filed case you can find case status on ecourt website by respondent or petitioner's name or by visiting court.

Gone are the days when people get exparte divorces using tricks like sending notices to wrong address, right address but in the person's absence etc. Nowadays courts made it very strict - all proper ways have to be used to serve summons to respondent before they can get exparte. So don't worry too much about this. Also, even if she gets exparte divorce, you can always get it reopened. Your learned counsel should be able to guide you how.
