Law terms meaning

Dear sir/madam,

I hear some terms related to Law about which I don't have any concept. I just want to get a clear concept about that just out of curisity. If anybody illustrate these terms with example, I will be grateful.
The terms are-
Notary, Suits, Petition, Writ Petition, Single Bench, Division Bench, Magistrate, Appelant.

Thanks in advance
