This is regarding legalization of my Chennai birth certificate (ORIGINAL AND NOT OLDER THAN 6 MONTHS) for the use of it in Switzerland. Below are the steps we have been asked to follow:
- Re-issuance of new Birth Certificate
- Legalization:
1.ATTESTATION by Deputy Secretary Home, State Government
2.APOSTILLE by Ministry of External Affairs
3.ATTESTATION by Swiss Embassy in India
Our Concerns regarding Birth Certificate issued by Chennai Corporation:
1) Chennai Corporation only issues ONLINE birth certificates and this should be considered as ORIGINAL as per norm. And obviously this birth certificate will have Computer Printed Seal & Signature of Public Health Department.
They give a PDF to print out the online certificate that states that "The certificate is computer generated and does not require any seal/signature. This certificate can be verified at www.chennaicorporation.gov.in"
Can the Computer Printed Seal & Signature of Public Health Department create a difficulty when we submit the birth certificate for authorization to Swiss Embassy in India?
2) Any certificate (Educational or Personal) issued by State Government of Tamil Nadu will have the name printed in the pattern: INITIAL (FATHER'S NAME), GIVEN NAME
For example in Birth Certificate:
Name of Child: B SURESH KUMAR
Name of Father: L BABU
So here the initial B (of child’s name) can be easily matched with father’s name Babu and Suresh Kumar is the given name.
However on the passport, which is issued by the Central Government of India, always the initial is expanded and written in full as Surname (Example: SURESH KUMAR BABU).
Can the USE OF INITIALS IN NAME create a difficulty when we submit the birth certificate for authorization to Swiss Embassy in India?
Thanks In Advance For Your Advise
