The child of his wife cannot become his legal heir until and unless he adopts the child properly following the complete legal process in this regard.
If the child has not been adopted then he will remain the child's step father only and not an adoptive father.

The step children has no right over their step father property because step children are not a legal hier of their step father.

It depends on family laws child is hindu and adopted by step father he automatically gets right over ancestral property if he is muslim it deny adoption he can become gaurdian only.
