Service tax on works against corporate social responsibilit

Our company is doing some works in the nearby loaclity under "coporate social responsiblity scheme" by engaging contractors , the works are basically construction or repairing of schhol building, road , etc . Whether service tax is payable against these works . Pl reply urgently .

Dear Bardoloi

Generally companies are not exempted to pay service tax for whatever service they are rendering. But in present case, if your company wants service tax exemption, then you need to have a separate service tax registration showing the jobs that you are performing are beneficial in nature (service tax exempted catogary).
