Sub-let

Dear All

I have a lease agreement with land lords for a shop. As per oral promise of landlord I have given sub-let to others. But presently landlords has given me a letter to vacate the room. Rent of room was Rs. 700/-. But after few days land lords has came to me and said it is breech of contract and previous agreement has cancelled by him. And he has made a new agreement with me and present rent is more higher than previous rent. Present rent is Rs. 1700/-. Pls suggest what should I do?

Rent laws differs from state to state. He may have increased the rent,  but generally speaking most of the rent acts provide that  sub letting without the consent of the landlord in writing gets the landlord a right to evict the tenant. Consult a local advocate.
