Termination after revised result

My friend was working as Engineer in a state power corporation. He was selected and appointed on the basis of a written test, in July 2012. Subsequently, the result of the written test was challenged in high court by some candidate saying that some of the answers to the questions in answer key of written test were wrong. In August 2013, high court gave its judgement instructing the corporation to prepare revised result with correct answers. in september 2013, corporation prepared revised result in which my friend could not qualify because he could not get passing marks in one section of the exam as per the criteria. So his appointment was cancelled by the corporation and he was dismissed after rendering 01 year and 10 months of service. Now he has filed a writ petition against this decision in the high court. Is there any chance that he will get reinstated? Is there any previous court judgement in similar type of case?
