What is a family court exactly

Some places in the country have FAMILY COURTS in place to try divorce cases, in others the Session courts are hearing these cases. What is the actual difference between a family court n ADJ court as far as divorce case is concerned? Is there some procedural difference also?

jurisdiction of a matrimonial case is conferred to the family court, if there is family court in the district.

if not, the district court (civil judge, senior division) has jurisdiction.

family courts are fast track courts.

also, its the policy of district courts to try marriage petitions expeditiously.

experts pl. elaborate.

In terms of matrimonial matters there is no difference between a family court n ADJ court. Both act in trhe same manner also there is no procedural difference. It is just for the convenience of public, that in certain area family court are established by the state government so that speedy relief is offered to individuals with respect to family matters like, divorce, maintenance etc....

1) Are the family courts DEDICATED to these matrimonial matters OR same court/judge doubles up as ADJ+Family court 2) Is the trial REALLY SPEEDY one or its just a gimmick?

Family courts are concerned with matrimonial matters only. Tes the trial is speedy in relation to ADJ courts.
