Whether daughter-in-law has to maintain widow mother-in-law?

Raghu is a government servant. He dies off and his wife Manjula got the same job on compassionate grounds. Manjula’s mother-in-law & sister-in-law have no source of income. After the death of husband, Manjula went separately with her two children and lives in a rental home. Mother-in-law & sister-in-law files a case against Manjula for maintenance.

1. Whether Mother-in-law is entitled for maintenance?
2. Whether the conduct of Manjula is right?
3. Whether Cr. P. C. is applicable?

1. Whether Mother-in-law is entitled for maintenance?
Take: Yes.

2. Whether the conduct of Manjula is right?
Take: Though taking separate residence by Manjula Law will not come and force her to live with a widow MIL and with un-employed SIL but so far as maintenance to upkeep widow MIL is concerned Manjula will be directed to pay a part of her govt. Job salary to her widow MIL.

3. Whether Cr. P. C. is applicable?
Take: Oh yes. Refer to some of my older posts on 'compassionate ground appointment and maintenance' citations I already posted here replying to similar facts queries.

Yes, daughter-in-law is duty bound to take care of mother-in-law. At the same time, no one can force daughter-in-law to be with her mother-in-law. But mother-in-law needs personal care which expects from daughter-in-law as mother-in-law lost her son.
