19th Law Commission of India Constituted

 The 19th Law Commission of India was constituted for a period of three years w.e.f. 1stSeptember, 2009 and upto 31st August 2012.  At present, Shri Justice P. V. Reddi, retired Judge, Supreme Court of India, is the Chairman and Dr. B. A. Agarwal, is the Member-Secretary of the Commission.

            With a view to induct more legal experts in the Commission, the Government has approved the following appointments in the Commission :-

1.Shri Justice Shiv Kumar Sharma

As full time Member

(former Judge of Rajasthan High Court

2.         Shri Amarjit Singh

As full time Member

 (former Additional Solicitor General of India)

3.         Dr. B. V. Acharya

As part time Member

(Senior Advocate, High Court of India)

4.         Shri A. Mariarputham

As part time Member

(Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India)

5.         Shri C. Achuthan

As part time Member

(former Presiding Officer in Securities Appellate Tribunal)

6.         Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh

As part time Member

(Vice Chancellor of NationalLaw University, Delhi)

7.         Prof. Afzal WaniIndraprastha University, New Delhi)

As part time Member

(former Dean, University of Law & Legal Studies,   Guru GobindSingh

8.         Shri R. Venkataramani  

As part time Member

(Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India)

9.         Dr. (Mrs.) ShashikalaGurupur Murphy

As part time Member
