NEW DELHI: A trial court summoned eight officials of Director General Central Excise Intelligence following a complaint filed by a man alleging that he was wrongfully confined and beaten up by them. Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Ajay Kumar Pandey summoned the officials for December 7 for causing hurt, wrongful confinement, abducting with intent secrecy and criminal intimidation. "There is sufficient ground to proceed against the accused for offences under Section 323, 348, 365, 368, 506 IPC read with Section 34 and 120 B IPC,'' ACMM Pandey said, directing the office of director general, DGCEI to report about the service of summons on next date of hearing. The complainant, Vinay Kanodia, who is in judicial custody in a case initiated by DGCEI under the Central Excise Act 1944, alleged that he was picked up on November 10 from a Paharganj hotel and was forcibly taken to DGCEI office and wrongfully confined there.
