The All India Bar Examination (AIBE) has been further postponed by 3 months. The new date for the exam is yet to be disclosed. The exam will no longer be conducted on 5thDecember, 2010.

Speaking to Bar & Bench, Gopal Sankarnarayanan Convenor AIBE, said, “the Exam will be held after three months although no date has been finalized. The Bar Council is scheduled to meet later this week and decide on the modalities of the exam”.

Gopal Sankarnarayanan also said that the reason for the extension was delay by State Bar Councils in registering the law graduates, and delay in receiving the course material by the law graduates registered for the exam.

The Bar Council announced the introduction of the AIBE in June of 2010 and has been seeing severe resistance from several quarters including State Bar Councils and law students.
