Allahabad HC stays implementation of Ganga Expressway projec

 In another jolt to Uttar Pradesh government, the Allahabad High Court today stayed the implementation of one of its most ambitious projects - Ganga Expressway, cancelling the permission of the environment department of August 23, 2007. The Court, though not touching the project per se, stayed the implementation of the project till the fresh procedure for environmental approval was undertaken by the state government. Justices Ashok Bhushan and Arun Tandon passed this order on a petition filed by a social organisation Ganga Mahasabha.
