The Bombay HC will hear on May 7 a civil suit filed by Hollywood's famous studio Twentieth Century Fox against B R Films, seeking an injunction against the release of the Hindi film 'Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai' alleging it was a remake of Oscar-winning English film 'My Cousin Vinny'.

In the suit, Fox has also prayed to the court to direct B R Films to pay Rs 7 crore as compensation for damages to them.

On the same day, the Court will decide on granting interim relief prayed for by the plaintiffs.

Before moving the court, Fox had served a legal notice to BR Chopra Films, who in its reply, denied the allegations and Ravi Chopra, son of B R Chopra, said he had made an original film with different characters, treatment and backdrops by Indianising the idea of My Cousin Vinny within the permissible limits.

'Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai' features Govinda, Lara Dutta and Sushmita Sen in lead roles.
