Bordoloi remanded to 14 days judicial custody Arrested Peoples' Consultative Group (PCG) member and rights activist Lachit Bordoloi has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody on Friday in connection with ULFA's alleged plan to hijack an aircraft. Bordoloi, an accused in the case, who was arrested on 11th February following the confessional statement of arrested ULFA leader Manoj Tamuli, was remanded to judicial custody by Kamrup Chief Judicial Magistrate. Bordoloi after his arrest was remanded first to five days police custody followed by another seven days of police custody. Bordoloi, who is also the Secretary General of human rights body Manab Adhikar Sangram Samiti (MASS), was arrested from Moran in Dibrugarh district following the arrest of Tamuli. Tamuli had claimed that he was trained by some Afghan militants, sent by the ISI, recently in Baksa district to hijack an aircraft from the international airport in Guwahati and the entire plot was allegedly hatched at a New Delhi restaurant. The militant was scheduled to hijack the aircraft from Borjhar airport and then take it Rawalpindi via Thimpu and Kathmandu. Tags Source : india.gov.in
