Cases filed in Central Administrative Tribunal
Since inception in 1985, up to September, 2010 a total of 566,706 cases have been filed in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), out of which 543,877 have been disposed off reflecting a pendency of about 4%. The average pendency of a case in CAT is approx. 1 year.As on 30th September, 2010, 22,829 cases were pending in various Benches of CAT as per details given below.

03 posts of Administrative and 05 posts of Judicial Members are lying vacant in different Benches of the Central Administrative Tribunals as on 26.11.2010. Vacancies have been advertised for selection as per the provisions of Administrative Tribunals (Procedure for appointment of Vice-Chairmen and Members) Rules, 2006.
Under section 5(4)(c) of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985, Chairman, CAT is empowered to authorize Members appointed to one Bench to temporarily discharge the functions of another Bench.
